Five Injured in Police Chase Crash on Scott Street at Zypher Street in Houston

Five Hospitalized after Houston Two-Vehicle Crash at Scott Street and Zypher Street

Houston, Texas (March 3, 2020) – Five people were injured after a police chase ended in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Houston, according to a local news source.

The crash happened in the area of Scott Street and Zypher Street.

According to the report, Umberto Alvarez was on his way home when two teens and a child came up to him for a ride.

Alvarez then stopped at a corner store to get a drink and left the kids and his keys inside the car. The kids, believed to be 17, 16, and 9 years old, stole Alvarez’s white car.

Police officers saw the car and attempted to pull it over, but the suspects fled away, and the officers led them on a high-speed chase of more than 100 mph down Scott Street.

The suspects crashed into an SUV, which was pulling out on Scott Street from Zypher Street. The impact caused the SUV to roll onto its side.

The three suspects and two victims in the SUV were taken to the hospital.

The two people in the SUV sustained serious injuries, and one of the suspects was listed in critical condition.

The suspect driver had minor injuries and is facing four counts of aggravated assault evading arrest, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and endangering a child.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

We hope the injured victims recover quickly.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws or statues which were violated.
