El Paso, Texas (October 10, 2020) – A 74-year-old man was killed, and a woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in east El Paso, according to police.

The deadly crash happened just before 10:00 a.m., on October 7, at the intersection of Edgemere Boulevard and Lee Boulevard.

Police said a 45-year-old woman was driving a Yukon northbound in the 3300 block of Lee Blvd when she stopped at the red light at the intersection. Frederick Martinez, 74, was driving a Chevrolet Colorado when he failed to brake or slow down and rear-ended the Yukon.

The force of the impact caused the Yukon to rollover.

Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. She was listed in critical condition.

Investigators said alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Frederick Martinez.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
