Galveston Officer and EMT Injured in Galveston Three-Vehicle Crash on Galveston Causeway

Galveston, Texas (May 20, 2020) – A Galveston Police Department Officer and a local EMT were seriously injured early Tuesday morning in a traffic accident in Galveston, according to police.

The crash happened at about 12:40 a.m. May 19, on the inbound side of the Galveston Causeway.

Police said the off duty police officer was driving his personal car when he crashed into the center barrier of the bridge.

An off duty female EMT, who works for a private ambulance service, stopped at the scene to help the officer.

As the officer was still in his car, and the EMT was standing beside it, another vehicle broadsided the officer’s car.

The officer and the EMT were taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch with serious injuries. They were listed in stable condition.

The driver of the third car remained at the scene after the accident.

The police are investigating the crash.

We hope the injured victims recover quickly

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
