Guillermo Guzman Seriously Injured in Lower Valley Pedestrian Accident on Montwood Drive

El Paso, Texas (May 7, 2021) – According to the authorities, a man was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident on Thursday in the Lower Valley.

The accident happened around noon, on May 5, in the 11100 block of Montwood Drive.

Authorities said Aaron Corey Ruiz, 26, was driving when he lost control while rounding a curve in the road and hit Guillermo Guzman, 64, who was sitting on a bench waiting for a bus.

Ruiz then crashed into an electric pole, causing the vehicle to roll over.

Guzman was taken to Del Sol Medical Center in serious condition with a leg injury.

Ruiz and a child passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Ruiz was arrested and was being held in the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $6,000 bond on charges of accident involving damage to a vehicle and failure to identify. Additional charges from the crash are pending.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
