Corpus Christi, Texas (January 5, 2018) – Four people were seriously injured in a fatal wrong-way collision that left one person dead on New Year’s Day in Corpus Christi, according to police.
The wreck happened shortly after 5 a.m. January 1 on Highway 358 near the Staples exit.
Corpus Christi police said a 28-year-old man was driving a grey SUV the wrong way when he collided with another SUV.
The wrong-way driver was killed in the crash. His identity was not immediately released.
The second SUV was occupied by four family members. Guillermo Serna, Yasmine Serna, Jason Serna and Michelle Lara. They were all transported to a hospital with major injuries. The four remained hospitalized as of Thursday evening.
The Corpus Christi Police Department is investigating the accident
