Hatem Barakat Killed in Arlington Motorcycle Crash on S. Cooper Street; Felipe Venegas Ramos Arrested

Arlington, Texas (August 27, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday night in a hit-and-run crash in Arlington, according to police.

The fatal crash happened around 11:20 p.m., August 25, in the 7800 block of S. Cooper Street.

Police said Felipe Venegas Ramos, 28, was driving a truck when he hit 50-year-old Hatem Barakat, who was riding a motorcycle.

Ramos fled the scene on foot after the accident.

Barakat was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Ramos was later found and arrested. He has been charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid and Intoxication Manslaughter.

The crash remains under investigation.
