El Paso, Texas (February 12, 2020) – The woman who was killed last Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash in El Paso has been identified as 67-year-old Herlinda Castro, according to the police.

The accident happened on Wednesday, February 5, at the intersection of Harrison and Piedras.

Police said Castro and her passenger, 18-year-old Ashley Saucedo, were traveling in a 2003 Explorer westbound on Harrison while 20-year-old Andreus Michael Johnson was driving a 2015 Dodge Challenger northbound on Piedras.

Johnson ran a stop sign and broadsided the Explorer.

Castro was killed in the crash.

Investigators said failure to yield the right of way and speed were factors in the crash.

Johnson was arrested on Tuesday, February 11, and was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. He was charged with manslaughter and is held under a $10,000 bond.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Herlinda Castro.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
