Sajid Barajas Killed in SE Houston Bicycle Accident on Cesar Chavez Boulevard

Houston, Texas (May 30, 2022) – A bicyclist was killed early Monday morning in a hit-and-run accident in southeast Houston, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 2:15 a.m., in the 323 block of S. Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

Police said 47-year-old Sajid Barajas was riding his bicycle southbound near the railroad tracks when he was rear-ended by a white Altima that was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The Altima continued traveling for a short distance down the street before pulling into a private parking lot. The driver then fled the scene on foot. Investigators later determined the Altima was stolen. 

Barajas was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police are looking for the hit-and-run driver.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information about the driver is urged to call the Houston Police Department Hit-and-Run Unit at 713-247-4072.
