Howard Wright Killed, Xavier Montalvo, Anthony Martin and Luis Salinas Arrested after Lubbock Street Racing Crash on Slide Road at 75th Street

Lubbock, Texas (March 4, 2020)According to a local news source, three people have been arrested for their involvement in a street racing crash that left one person dead last month in Lubbock.

The fatal crash occurred just before 3:00 p.m. February 24, in the 7500 block of Slide Road at 75th Street.

Police said Howard Wright, 69, was driving a Nissan Murano and was at a stop sign facing eastbound at 5200 75th Street. He then pulled onto Slide Road and was hit by a southbound Dodge Charger driven by 19-year-old Xavier Montalvo.

Wright was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Montalvo was taken to Covenant Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Montalvo was later arrested on warrants for racing on a highway causing death and manslaughter.

28-year-old Anthony Martin and 24-year-old Luis Salinas were arrested on warrants for racing on a highway causing death.

The Major Crash Unit is conducting the investigation.
