HPD Officer Injured in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash near West Montgomery and Beall

Houston, Texas (December 6, 2022) – An HPD officer was injured Monday night in a crash involving an intoxicated driver in northwest Houston, according to the police.

The crash happened on December 5, near the intersection of West Montgomery and Beall.

Police said the officer was parked in his patrol car near the intersection with emergency lights on as a form of traffic control. A white Toyota Tacoma then crashed into the patrol car, causing it to spin around.

The Tacoma continued heading northbound, and the driver was eventually stopped when police said his car had mechanical issues. He was determined that he may have been driving while intoxicated and was charged with a DWI.

The officer was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
