Hugh Nixon Killed in Johnson County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 917 near CR 808

Johnson County, Texas (May 26, 2020) – A man was killed Monday afternoon in a head-on collision in Johnson County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened around 3:30 p.m. May 25, on FM 917, just east of CR 808.

According to a preliminary investigation, 55-year-old Sherrie Boydston, of Glenrose, was driving a GMC Sierra pickup eastbound while Hugh Nixon, 71, of Alvarado, was driving a Nissan Quest SUV westbound.

Boydston then swerved, for unknown reasons, into the westbound lane and crashed head-on into the SUV.

The impact pushed the SUV into the north side of the roadway, and it came to a stop in a ditch.

Nixon was pronounced dead at the scene.

Boydston was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital with unknown injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Hugh Nixon.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
