Hunter James Injured in Fatal Hunt County Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 69
Hunt County, Texas (January 23, 2021) – A woman was killed, and a man was injured in a head-on collision early Thursday morning in Hunt County, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal crash happened around 2:35 a.m., January 21, on U.S. Highway 69, at the 242-mile marker, just south of County Road 1041.
DPS said Alaina Portillo, 21, of Wolfe City, was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on the highway while Hunter James, 32, of Canyon Lake, was driving a Jeep Wrangler southbound.
The Jeep veered into the northbound lane for unknown reasons and crashed head-on into the Camry.
Portillo was pronounced dead at the scene.
James was taken to Medical City Plano in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
