Hunter Wilkes and Alexis Wilkes Killed in Panola County Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 59 

Panola County, Texas (December 21, 2021) – A couple was killed Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Panola County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 10:00 a.m., December 19, on U.S. Highway 59, south of Carthage.

DPS said a truck towing a trailer was traveling northbound in the left lane of US 59 when it struck an SUV that was entering the intersection of the loop exit ramp.

The occupants of the SUV, Hunter Wilkes and Alexis Wilkes, both 21 of Minden, were killed in the crash. Their 2-month-old infant was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The truck driver, Jerry Galloway, 79, of Fort Smith, Ark, was taken to UT Health Carthage in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
