Santos Loera Killed in Houston Multi-Vehicle Crash on West Sam Houston Parkway near Hammerly
Houston, Texas (January 1, 2019) – One person was killed Monday morning in a fiery multi-vehicle crash on the northwest side of Houston, according to a local news source.
The fatal crash happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. December 31, on the West Sam Houston Parkway (Beltway 8) near Kempwood.
Police said two vehicles were heading southbound on the feeder near Hammerly when an SUV driven by J. Santos Loera, veered left from the right lane, hitting another car. Loera lost control, swerved back to the right and into a parking lot where he slammed into two parked vehicles causing his car to catch fire.
Bystanders attempted to pull Loera from the burning SUV, but they were unsuccessful.
Loera died at the scene.
The police are investigating the crash.
