James Allen Sinclair and Barbara Jenkins Sinclair Killed in Upshur County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 154 at FM 1650 near Gilmer

Upshur County, Texas (May 12, 2020) – Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Upshur County, east of the city of Gilmer, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash happened 4:29 p.m. May 11, at the intersection of SH 154 and FM 1650.

According to a preliminary investigation, James Allen Sinclair, 67, of Gilmer, was driving a 2010 Toyota RG4 northbound on FM 1650 when he stopped at the intersection. 

Ricky Carrol Nash, 55, of Hallsville, was driving a 2005 International truck tractor towing a trailer eastbound on SH 154.

James failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, pulled into the path of the semi-truck, and the Toyota was hit by the truck.

James was declared dead at the scene. His passenger, Barbara Jenkins Sinclair, 90, of Gilmer, was taken to Christus Good Shepherd – Longview, where she later died.

Ricky was treated and released at the scene. His passenger, Nerlyn Nash, 36, of Hallsville, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
