James Evans Dies in Kilgore Pedestrian Accident on I-20

Kilgore, Texas (May 24, 2019) – A man pushing a stalled vehicle was fatally struck by a big rig in Kilgore early Friday morning, according to the DPS.
The wreck happened on I-20 east of Kilgore at around 1:56 a.m.
According to the DPS, James Michael Evans, 56, of Kilgore was driving a pickup truck that experienced a mechanical issue and stopped. Evans and his passenger went out to push the vehicle and in the process, a big rig slammed into the stalled pickup.
Evans was also hit by the big rig. He was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision.
The pickup passenger and the two occupants of the big rig were unhurt.
The DPS is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
