James Featherston Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 349 in Midland County

James Featherston ID’d as 1 of 2 Drivers Killed in Midland County Crash on State Highway 349 and County Road 140

Midland County, Texas (August 4, 2022) – Authorities have identified one of the two drivers who died following a fiery traffic crash early Wednesday morning in Midland County as James William Featherston, 38, of Oglesby.

The deadly crash occurred at about 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, on State Highway 349 and County Road 140.

Authorities said Featherston was driving a Dodge Ram 2500 eastbound on County Road 140, approaching the County Road 140 intersection when he reportedly failed to yield the right of way at the intersection.

The Dodge was then hit on the driver’s side by a semi-truck that was heading southbound on State Highway 349, approaching the same intersection. After the collision, both vehicles came to a rest in the east barrow ditch of State Highway 349 and caught fire.

Featherston and the driver of the semi-truck were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Further details regarding the crash were not immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation by DPS.
