Taylor County, Texas (March 5, 2022) – One person was killed, and another was injured Thursday morning in a multi-vehicle crash in Taylor County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on March 3, on Interstate 20.

DPS said a commercial vehicle towing a trailer, driven by Lawrence D. Malone Jr. of Caddo Mills, and a car driven by Jason D. Keubler of Merkel, were traveling eastbound in the right lane of the interstate and were preparing to exit the interstate because of a crash ahead.

As the two vehicles exited, a third eastbound car driven by Jessica A. McGuire of Merkel, rear-ended Keubler’s car, causing it to rear-end Malone’s vehicle.

Keubler was pronounced dead at the scene.

McGuire was taken to Hendrick Medical Center, where she was treated and released.

Malone was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation
