Rusk County, Texas (October 28, 2020) – One person was killed, and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Rusk County, according to DPS.

The fatal crash occurred around 7:15 a.m., October 27, on US 59, north of Garrison.

DPS said a 2020 Kenworth towing a semi-trailer was traveling northbound in the outside lane of the highway and was slowing to turn right into a private drive when it was rear-ended by a northbound 2006 Freightliner truck towing a trailer.

The driver of the Freightliner, Salvador A. Oliva, 65, of Edinburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Kenworth, Jessie Dale Cashion, 40, of Lancaster, and his co-driver Robert Allen Cain, 48, of Nacogdoches were taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.

We hope Jessie Dale Cashion and Robert Allen Cain recover quickly.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statues which were violated.
