Jesus Duran Killed in Deer Park Rear-End Crash on La Porte Freeway near Independence Freeway

Deer Park, Texas (August 11, 2021) – According to the deputies, a man was killed early Tuesday morning after he rear-ended an 18-wheeler in Deer Park.

The fatal crash happened around 3:37 a.m., August 10, in the 7400 block of La Porte Freeway near Independence Freeway.

Deputies said Cody Field was driving a 2003 Peterbilt 379 with a flatbed trailer attached to it, and he was stopped on the outbound shoulder. Field was asleep in his truck which had his lights and four-way hazards illuminated.

Jesus Duran was driving a 2012 Infiniti 370 when he rear-ended the 18-wheeler and was impaled by rebar.

Duran was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The crash closed the eastbound feeder road at Battleground and 225.

Motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.

The deputies are investigating the crash.
