Jim Newcomer Killed in New Braunfels Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 35 near Highway 46; Bradley Knight Arrested

New Braunfels, Texas (September 14, 2021) – According to the police, a 54-year-old Dale man was killed Saturday morning in a hit-and-run accident in New Braunfels.

The deadly accident happened around 8:30 a.m., September 11, in the 1000 block of Interstate 35 North near Highway 46.

Police said Jim Newcomer had pulled his 18-wheeler over onto the shoulder of the highway and was standing near the back left corner of the trailer.

The driver of a four-door Dodge Neon was driving northbound when he swerved to avoid the tractor-trailer but ended up hitting the man and crashing into the rear of the tractor-trailer.

Newcomer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Neon driver, Bradley Knight, 29, fled the scene but was later arrested at his home and taken to the Comal County Jail, where he has been charged with an accident involving death. He was out of jail after posting a $25,000 bond.

An investigation is underway.
