Joel Zaragoza Arrested After San Antonio Pedestrian Accident on North Loop 1604 West

San Antonio, Texas (May 20, 2021) – The driver who was involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a jogger dead earlier this month in San Antonio has been arrested, according to the police.

Joel Angel Zaragoza, 28, was arrested Tuesday night, May 18.

The deadly accident happened around 7:17 a.m., May 2, in the North Loop 1604 West eastbound access road between Lockhill Selma Road and NW Military Highway.

Police said Lisa Rosenstein, 53, was jogging westbound on the southern shoulder of the highway when an eastbound sedan drifted into the shoulder and struck her.

Rosenstein was thrown into a grass shoulder and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sedan driver, Zaragoza, fled the scene after the accident. Parts of his vehicle’s headlamp were located at the scene.

Zaragoza was arrested on Tuesday on a charge of failure to stop and render aid resulting in death, a second-degree felony. His bond was set at $50,000. 

The police are investigating the accident.
