John Allen Killed in Head-On Crash on SH 274 in SE Kaufman County

John Allen Killed in SE Kaufman County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 274 near CR 4202

Kaufman County, Texas (August 30, 2020) – One person was killed, and two others were injured in a head-on collision Friday night in southeast Kaufman County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 10:05 p.m., August 28, on State Highway 274 near County Road 4202.

DPS said a Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on the highway when it veered into the southbound lanes and crashed head-on into a Dodge Ram.

The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire.

The Ford driver, 53-year-old John Allen of Crossroads, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A father and his teenager in the Dodge were airlifted to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
