Jonathan Burkett ID’d as Worker Killed in Smith County Industrial Accident at Cannon Steel on Highway 64
Smith County, Texas (January 25, 2019) – The worker who was killed Wednesday morning in an industrial accident at Cannon Steel in Smith County has been identified as Jonathan Burkett, 28, according to authorities.
The deadly accident occurred at about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 23 in the loading area of Cannon Steel, located at 12905 Highway 64.
Authorities said Burkett was unloading steel beams from a flatbed trailer when one of them came loose from the pile, bounced, and hit the victim in the head.
Burkett was declared deceased at the scene.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
