Jose Garcia Identified as Man Killed in 3-Vehicle Crash on Highway 242 in Montgomery County

Jose Garcia Killed in Montgomery County Car Accident on Highway 242

Montgomery County, Texas (June 21, 2019) – The man who was killed in a three-vehicle crash Thursday night on a Montgomery County highway has been identified as Jose Ortiz Garcia, 22, of Willis, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash occurred just after 11:00 p.m. June 20, on Highway 242.

Deputies said Garcia was driving a 2010 Ford Mustang westbound on the highway when he drifted into the eastbound lanes and crashed almost head-on into an oncoming 2014 Nissan Altima driven by Janeth Leal, 25, of Conroe.

The Mustang then collided with an eastbound 2002 Honda Civic driven by Giovanny Rojas, 18.

The Mustang split in half following the crash.

Garcia was declared dead at the scene.

Rojas was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.

Leal and her passenger, Nancy Leal, 40, were taken to Conroe Regional Hospital in stable condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
