Jose Ortiz Cedillos Killed in Car Crash on U.S. 54 in Northeast El Paso

Jose Ortiz Cedillos ID’d as Victim in Fatal Northeast El Paso Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 54 at Stan Roberts Sr Avenue

El Paso, Texas (December 31, 2019) – The person who was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night in northeast El Paso has been identified as Jose Ortiz Cedillos, 47, according to the police.

The fatal crash occurred on Saturday, December 28, on U.S. 54(Gateway North) at Stan Roberts Sr Avenue.

Police said Gabino Hernandez, 41, and Cedillos, were traveling northbound in a 1998 GMC C3500 when they were broadsided by a 1995 Chevrolet K2500 driven by Jose Luis Ortiz Saucedo, 52, who failed to yield the right of way at the intersection.

The impact caused the GMC to rollover ejecting Cedillos, who was not wearing a seatbelt. Cedillos was killed in the crash.

Hernandez was taken to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
