Joshua Zaborowski Killed, Alise Grimm, Sue Eickenhorst, and Jonathan McGinty Injured in Lufkin Ambulance Crash on Highway 69 

Lufkin, Texas (December 23, 2021) – One person was killed, and three others were injured early Thursday morning in an ambulance crash, about two miles south of Lufkin, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 1:20 a.m., on U.S. Highway 69.

DPS said a 2012 Ford ambulance was traveling northbound on the highway while a 2001 Chevrolet SUV was traveling southbound.

The ambulance drove over into the southbound lane, for unknown reasons, and struck the Chevrolet.

The ambulance continued traveling southbound for a short distance before it traveled off the roadway and overturned.

The ambulance driver, Joshua Zaborowski, 30, from Dayton, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Alise Grimm, 62, from Willis, was taken to Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin for treatment.

The patient in the ambulance, Sue Eickenhorst, 68, from Jasper, was taken to Health Memorial Hospital in Lufkin for treatment.

The Chevrolet driver, Jonathan McGinty, 40, from Huntington, was also taken to St. Luke’s Health Memorial Hospital in Lufkin for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
