Juan Vasquez Killed in Hit-and-Run on North Copia Street in El Paso; Domingo Villareal Arrested

Juan Vasquez ID’d as Man Killed in El Paso Crash on North Copia Street at La Luz Avenue; Domingo Villareal Arrested

El Paso, Texas (June 6, 2022) – Authorities have identified the man who died early Sunday morning following a two-vehicle crash in central El Paso as Juan Vasquez, 61.

The deadly accident happened at around 3:00 a.m. Sunday, June 5, on North Copia Street at La Luz Avenue, just north of the intersection of Copia and Montana Avenue.

Authorities said Vasquez, a resident of El Paso, was driving a Hyundai Elantra northbound on North Copia Street when the Elantra was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Silverado.

After the impact, the Elantra went up a curb while the Silverado veered off the roadway and slammed into a rock wall.

Vazquez was pronounced at the scene.

The driver of the Silverado did not stop to render aid to Vasquez and fled the scene on foot. Domingo Feliciano Villareal,23, was arrested on Wednesday in connection to the crash. He has been charged with accident involving death. His bond was set at $250,000.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
