Julia Moore and John Wurts Killed in Harris County Tow Truck Crash at Gessner Road and Loyal Pointe Drive

Harris County, Texas (January 24, 2022) – Two people were killed, and two others were injured Sunday night in a tow truck crash in northwest Harris County, according to the deputies.

The fatal crash happened shortly after 9:00 p.m., January 23, in the 10800 block of N. Gessner Road at the intersection of Loyal Pointe Drive.

Deputies said Julia Moore, 57, was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound on North Gessner when she attempted to turn left onto Loyal Pointe Drive and was hit by a Dodge Ram 3500 licensed Harris County tow truck which was traveling southbound on N. Gessner.

Moore and one of his passengers, John Wurts, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger, a 12-year-old, was airlifted to Memorial Hermann in critical condition. She told officers that Moore was her grandmother.

The tow truck driver, a 29-year-old, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He admitted that he was speeding.

The crash remains under investigation.
