Julie Michelle Barela and Randy Lee Barela Killed, Jade Ethan Roby Injured in Nolan County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 70

Nolan County, Texas (June 28, 2020) – A couple was killed, and another person was injured early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash, about a mile south of Sweetwater, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 2:30 a.m. June 27, on SH 70.

DPS said Julie Michelle Barela, 54, was driving a 2008 Ford pickup truck when she veered into the southbound lane and crashed into a 2005 Dodge pickup truck driven by Jade Ethan Roby, 25, of Sweetwater.

Both Julie and Randy Lee Barela, 56, of San Antonio, who was also riding in the Ford, were killed in the crash. They were a couple.

Roby was taken to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
