Justin York ID’d as Pedestrian Killed in Bastrop Accident on Texas 71 at Schaefer Boulevard
Bastrop, Texas (March 25, 2019) – The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday night in Bastrop has been identified as Justin York, 41, of Oklahoma, according to police.
The deadly accident occurred just before 9:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24 in the 500 block of Texas 71, near the highway’s intersection with Schaefer Boulevard.
Police said York was struck by a vehicle while he was trying to cross the eastbound lanes of Texas 71.
York died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle involved sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.
As of 11:00 p.m. the eastbound lanes of the highway were still blocked but were expected to be reopened later.
The crash remains under investigation.
