Katrena Kay Smith Killed in Tyler County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 190 and FM 1746

Tyler County, Texas (October 18, 2019) – A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Thursday at a Tyler County intersection, DPS said.

The fatal crash occurred around 4:30 p.m., October 17, at the intersection of US 190 and FM 1746.

DPS said Kenneth Shavers, 31, of Fred, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet pickup truck eastbound on US 190 while a 2004 Kia passenger vehicle driven by Katrena Kay Smith, 48, of Onalaska, was stopped at the intersection.

Smith failed to yield the right of way and pulled into the path of the Chevrolet, resulting in a collision.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Marshall Tucker, 42, of Onalaska, who was a passenger in the Kia, was taken to the hospital where he refused medical treatment.

Shavers was uninjured in the crash.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
