Spring, Texas (January 2, 2021) – A woman was killed, and a family of five was injured early Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in north Harris County, according to deputies.
The fatal crash happened just before 2:00 a.m., January 1, in the 8100 block of Spring Cypress Road near Glen Haven Estates Drive.
Deputies said Kaylee Harthan was driving a tan 2003 Ford Camry eastbound when she lost control and collided with a westbound white 2003 Toyota Sequoia driven by Jose Lopez.
Harthan was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Lopez, a woman, and three children in the Sequoia were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies believe speed might have been a factor in the crash.
The crash closed Spring Cypress Road for several hours.
The authorities are investigating the crash.
“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.
