Keila Oviedo Hit, Killed by Vehicle on US 77 in Lyford

Keila Oviedo Killed in Lyford Pedestrian Accident on US 77

Lyford, Texas (September 26, 2022) – A woman was fatally hit by a vehicle Sunday morning in Lyford, south of the Cameron-Willacy county line, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident happened around 5:23 a.m., September 25, on US-77.

Authorities said Keila Nayely Oviedo, 29, of Raymondville, was driving a white Buick Lacrosse when she left her lane and hit a guardrail. The Buick spun and came to a stop in the middle of the highway.

Oviedo then got out of her car and was struck by a black Chevrolet Malibu.

The Malibu driver got out of the car to check on Oviedo but then jumped off the over-path to avoid being struck by another vehicle.

Oviedo was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

The Malibu driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

No other details were provided.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
