Keith Rambo Killed in El Paso Two-Vehicle Crash on Loop 375 at Spur 601

El Paso, Texas (July 22, 2021) – The identities of the two Fort Bliss soldiers who were killed on Sunday in a fiery two-vehicle crash in East El Paso have been released.

The U.S. Army identified the victims as Sgt. 1st Class Keith Rambo, 32, a Michigan native, and Spc. Malvin Kyei-Baffour, 21, a Red Oak native.

The fatal crash happened on July 18, on Loop 375 and Iron Medics Drive.

Authorities said Jhairo Ajtun Martinez, 27, was driving a 2020 Kia Rio northbound on Loop 375 when he veered right and crashed into a guardrail, splitting the car apart.

The passenger compartment of the Kia came to rest in the right lane and was struck by a speeding Dodge Charger.

The Charger continued traveling several hundred feet onto the Iron Medics on-ramp, where it crashed and caught fire.

Ruby Navarette, 21, who was the rear-seat passenger, was ejected. Another rear-seat passenger in the Charger, 35-year-old Luis Aneudy Velasquez, was rescued by the Good Samaritans from the burning vehicle.

Navarette and Velasquez were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Charger driver and the front-seat passenger were unable to escape the burning car and were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as Rambo and Kyei-Baffour. They were assigned to the 1st Armored Division.

A third soldier was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Martinez was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
