Kenna Hess, Alauna Huhem, Donald McFarland, Kay McFarland, and 4-Year-Old Boy Killed in Armstrong County Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 287 and County Road 9

Armstrong County, Texas (April 28, 2022) – Five people were killed Wednesday evening in a head-on collision in Armstrong County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 4:15 p.m., April 27, in the area of Highway 287 and County Road 9 between Washburn and Claude.

DPS said Kenna Hess, 23, was driving westbound in the eastbound lane of the highway while Donald McFarland, 84, and Kay McFarland, 80, were traveling eastbound in the outside lane behind a truck.

McFarland moved over into the inside lane to pass the truck and was struck head-on by Hess.

Hess and the two passengers, 25-year-old Alauna Huhem and a 4-year-old boy, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Donald and Kay were also pronounced dead at the scene.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
