Beaumont, Texas (September 11, 2021) – The motorcyclist who was injured Tuesday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Beaumont has died, according to the Texas DPS.

Kenneth Weaver, 74, from China, Texas, died on September 9.

The accident happened around 9:45 a.m., September 7, at the intersection of U.S. 90 and Main Lane.

DPS said a 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on US 90 while a 2017 Mazda was traveling northbound on Main Lane.

The Mazda failed to yield right of way from the stop sign and collided with the motorcycle.

The Mazda driver, Isabella Guy, 19, from Kountze, fled the scene but was later located.

The motorcyclist, Weaver, was taken to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, where he later died.

Guy and a passenger were uninjured in the crash.

The troopers are investigating the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases the accident results in death.
