34-Year-Old Kenny Varnadore Killed in Martin County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 137 at CR 2400 near Stanton

Martin County, Texas (March 3, 2020) – A Midland man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening in Martin County, 2 miles north of Stanton, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. February 29, at the intersection of State Highway 137 and County Road 2400.

DPS said Kenny W. Varnadore, 34, was driving a Ford F-250 northbound on SH 137 behind a Peterbilt truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer.

Varnadore tried to pass the semi-truck as it began turning left onto CR 2400. The Ford was then hit by the semi-truck.

Varnadore, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the semi-truck, a man from Enid Oklahoma, was not injured in the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
