Kourtney Hawkins, Nely Martinez Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on I-45 in Montgomery County

Kourtney Hawkins and Nely Martinez Killed in Montgomery County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 45

Montgomery County, Texas (August 5, 2021) – Two people were killed early Sunday morning in a wrong-way crash in south Montgomery County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened around 1:40 a.m., August 1, on Interstate 45, a mile south of Oak Ridge.

DPS said a 2006 Acura TSX was traveling southbound in the northbound lane when it crashed head-on into a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500.

The driver of the Acura, Kourtney Yakiyah Hawkins, 26, of Houston, and a passenger in the Dodge, Nely Martinez, 22, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dodge driver, a 21-year-old from Huntsville, was taken to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe in serious condition.

Two other passengers in the Dodge, a 21-year-old and a 22-year-old, were taken to local hospitals in serious condition.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
