Kris Doyle Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on FM 2324 in Rains County

Kris Doyle ID’d as Man Killed in Rains County Crash on FM 2324 near Emory

Rains County, Texas (June 3, 2022) – Authorities have identified the man who was killed Wednesday afternoon in a car crash in Rains County as Kris H. Doyle, 62.

Doyle, an Emory resident, died in the crash that happened at around 12:41 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, on FM 2324, approximately four miles southwest of Emory.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2005 Kia Spectra, driven by Doyle, was traveling eastbound on FM 2324 when it slowed to make a left turn into a private drive.

A 2011 Nissan Frontier traveling behind the Kia failed to slow down and rear-ended the Kia.

Doyle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan, Maria L. Colunga, 31, of Emory, did not suffer any injuries. Her passengers, an 11-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, were transported to CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital in unknown condition.

Doyle was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. None of the occupants of the Nissan were wearing their seatbelts.

Further information about the accident was not provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
