Waxahachie, Texas (March 30, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash east of Waxahachie, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened just after 12:00 p.m., March 26, on U.S. Highway 287.

According to a preliminary investigation, a white 2017 Freightliner truck tractor towing a white 2016 Stoughton semi-trailer was traveling in the right lane and was beginning to turn right into a business. A northbound black 2008 Ford Escape that was traveling behind the truck failed to control its speed and slid up under the back of the semi-trailer.

The Ford driver, Otto Schniebs, 72, of Ennis, was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Dallas with life-threatening injuries.

Kristin Bulmer, 23, of Ennis, who was a passenger in the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
