Lance Miller Killed, Phyllis Purvis Injured in Motorcycle Accident on SH 64 in Smith County

Lance Miller Killed and Phyllis Purvis Hospitalized after Smith County Motorcycle Crash on SH 64 at CR 210

Smith County, Texas (September 23, 2022) – A motorcycle accident has claimed the life of one person Wednesday evening in Smith County and left one other person injured, authorities said.

The deadly crash happened at about 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, on SH 64 at CR 210.

According to the authorities, Phyllis J. Purvis, 59, was driving a truck northbound on CR 210 and stopped at the intersection with SH 64, while Lance L. Miller, 31, of Smith County, was riding his motorcycle eastbound on state highway 64.

Purvis failed to yield the right of way and collided with Miller’s motorcycle.

Miller and Purvis were both taken to the UT Health hospital, where Miller later succumbed to his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
