Larry Waxler, Phelan Hill Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 281 near Johnson City

Larry Waxler and Phelan Hill ID’d as Two Killed in Johnson City Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 281

Johnson City, Texas (November 27, 2019) – The two people who were killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning between Johnson City and Round Mountain, have been identified as Larry Waxler, 36, of Burnet and Phelan Hill, 39, of New Braunfels, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The deadly crash happened around 6:45 a.m., November 26, on U.S. Highway 281 near mile marker 470.

DPS said Waxler was driving a 2018 Ford F150 truck southbound on the highway when he crossed over into the northbound lane and hit a Toyota vehicle driven by Hill.

Waxler and Hill were pronounced dead at the scene.

Both directions of U.S. Highway 281 were closed following the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
