Laura Rivera Killed in Tractor-Trailer Crash on U.S. 183 in Cuero

Laura Rivera ID’d as Woman Killed in Cuero Crash on U.S. 183

Cuero, Texas (January 24, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the woman who died on Saturday morning following a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer near Cuero as Laura Yvette Rivera, 38, of Victoria.

The fatal crash happened at around 6:35 a.m. Saturday, January 21, on U.S. 183, about 1.3 miles north of Cuero.

DPS said Rivera was driving a 2019 Kia Sorento northbound on U.S. 183 when a southbound 2022 Kenworth semi towing a trailer veered into the northbound lane and collided head-on with Rivera’s SUV.

Following the crash, the Sorento overturned and came to a rest on the embankment upside down while the truck came to a rest at the bottom of the embankment on its wheels.

Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:10 a.m.

The driver of the semi, Reginald Duntae Cobb Sr., 43, of Red Oak, was not injured.

DPS is investigating the crash.
