Harris County, Texas (August 4, 2022) – The man who died after his vehicle was struck by a loose tire Thursday afternoon in Harris County has been identified as Lee Simmons, 32.

The deadly crash occurred at about 1:45 p.m. Thursday, August 4, on the North Freeway (Interstate 45) near Louetta Road.

Authorities said a tractor-trailer was heading southbound on Interstate 45 when one of the tandem axels broke and two tires on its left side came off.

No other injuries were reported.

Two lanes of the highway were closed for nearly four hours following the crash.

The driver of the truck stopped at the scene to cooperate with the police.

Further details regarding the crash were not immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
