Lexy Vasquez, Uris Lagunes Injured in Head-On Crash on 19th Street in Lubbock

Lexy Vasquez and Uris Lagunes Injured in Lubbock Two-Vehicle Crash at 19th Street and Chicago Avenue

Lubbock, Texas (November 7, 2022) – Five people were injured Friday night in a head-on collision in Lubbock, according to the police.

The crash happened around 11:56 p.m., November 4, at the intersection of 19th Street and Chicago Avenue.

Police said Uris Lagunes, 21, was driving a Nissan Altima passenger car eastbound in the 5400 block of 19th Street while a Hyundai Elantra passenger car driven by Lexy Vasquez, 18, was heading westbound.

The Altima crossed over into the westbound lanes, and struck the Elantra head-on in the center lane.

Vasquez was taken to Covenant Medical Center with serious injuries.

Lagunes and one passenger of the Elantra were taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries. 

Two other passengers in the Elantra were taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit is investigating the crash.
