Liboryo Iglesias Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on SH 349 in Martin County

Liboryo Iglesias Killed in Martin County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 349 at SH 176

Martin County, Texas (June 20, 2022) – According to the authorities, a Lamesa man was killed early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Martin County.

The fatal crash happened around 1:45 a.m., June 18, at the intersection of State Highway 349 and State Highway 176.

Authorities said Liboryo Iglesias, 52, was driving an SUV northbound on the highway while an 18-wheeler driven by Jorge Gongora, 58, of Hemstead, Texas, was stopped at the intersection.

Gongora failed to yield while turning onto Highway 349, and the trailer was hit by the SUV.

Iglesias was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The road conditions were clear and dry at the time of the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
