Logan Qualls Injured in Smith County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 31
Smith County, Texas (May 5, 2021) – One person was killed, and two others were injured Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in Smith County, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal crash occurred around 10:45 p.m., May 1, on State Highway 31 E, east of Tyler.
DPS said Patrianna Damrye Pettigrew, 18, of Tyler, was driving a passenger car when she lost control of the car, possibly due to weather conditions, crossed into oncoming traffic, and crashed into a pickup truck driven by Logan Qualls, 18, of Winona.
Pettigrew was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a Tyler High School senior. Her passenger, Talia Janae Smith, 20, of Tyler, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Qualls was taken to Tyler medical center in stable condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
