Ma De La Luz Villarreal and 8-Year-Old Killed in Lamb County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 385

Lamb County, Texas (December 5, 2022) – Two people were killed last month in a head-on collision in Lamb County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 7:25 p.m., November 24, on US 385, eight miles outside Springlake.

DPS said Ma De La Luz Villarreal, 55, from Hereford, was driving a GMC Acadia SUV northbound on the highway while a Ford pickup truck, occupied by five people, was traveling southbound towards the SUV.

The wet and slippery conditions caused the Ford to skid into the northbound lane and crash head-on into the SUV.

Villarreal was pronounced dead at the scene.

An 8-year-old in the truck was taken to a Lubbock hospital, where they later died. Their identity has not been released.

The Texas Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
