Man Killed in Northwest Austin Train-Pedestrian Accident on West Howard Lane

Austin, Texas (April 29, 2020) – A man was fatally hit by a train early Wednesday morning in Northwest Austin, according to officials.

The accident happened around 2:44 a.m. on West Howard Lane, just west of MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1) near the Metro Howard Station Park and Ride.

Officials said the man was struck by a WATCO freight train, for unknown reasons, on West Howard Lane.

The man was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

No further details were provided.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
